Moszna Castle
Moszna Castle stands in the village of Moszna in Upper Silesia, southwestern Poland. The original Baroque palace on the site was partially destroyed by fire on the night of 2–3 April 1896; industrial magnate Franz Hubert von Tiele-Winckler rebuilt and greatly expanded it in two phases — a Neo-Gothic eastern wing by 1900, and a Neo-Renaissance western wing between 1912 and 1914 — producing an eclectic composition of exactly 365 rooms and 99 turrets.
Soviet occupation in 1945 caused severe damage to the interiors, though the Tiele-Winckler family had already fled westward that spring. Kaiser Wilhelm II visited for hunting parties in 1904, 1911, and 1912. The castle now operates as a hotel, with a gallery hosting rotating exhibitions and a chapel used for chamber concerts.
