Alcazaba of Almería
A vast Arab fortress commanding the port city of Almería in southern Spain, begun in 955 under Caliph Abd ar-Rahman III of Córdoba. Al-Mansur subsequently expanded the complex, which grew into the second-largest Arabic fortress in Spain after Badajoz.
It comprises three enclosures: two of Moorish construction and a third added after the Christian Reconquista in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, including a Tower of Homage. Admission has been free since 1994. The site has served as a filming location for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Game of Thrones.
