Ujazdów Castle, a C-tier castle in Poland

Ujazdow Castle sits in central Warsaw, Poland, between Ujazdow and Lazienki parks above the Vistula escarpment. The site hosted the 1578 premiere of Jan Kochanowski's The Dismissal of the Greek Envoys at Jan Zamoyski's wedding — the first documented theatrical performance in Polish history.

King Sigismund III Vasa commissioned a new palace here in the early 17th century in Baroque style, later given neoclassical modifications. The castle was burned out during the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and deliberately demolished by Communist authorities in 1954. Reconstruction began in 1975, and since 1985 it has housed Warsaw's Centre for Contemporary Art, which has organized over 600 exhibitions.

Methodology

A castle here means anything Wikipedia lists as a castle — which often includes fortresses, palaces, monasteries, and châteaux. The list also includes historicist creations like Neuschwanstein, but only when their main construction was completed before the 20th century.

All castles are sorted into tiers based on nothing but the author’s vibe and whim. Feel free to rearrange them however you personally see fit. Ultimately, the criteria were not historical significance or defensive capability, but how exciting a visit there would likely be.
